You know when you read someone’s blog and you have this instant feeling that you would be besties? This is how I feel about the Pintester. I imagine us effing up pins and braiding each others hair whilst wearing homemade face masks. She is like a friend you already have, but funnier, and doesn’t ask to borrow money.

MFCAKETIME
Its that time of the year again, cake time! Err, I mean, Thanksgiving. Baking cakes from scratch and creating that perfect consistency icing is always a treat for me. But having recently moved from a pretty sweet house to a small apartment in the city, I’ve had to improvise..on more than a few things. Carrot cake is so delightful. It’s like pretending you’re doing something good for yourself and after eating it watching your hands shake from the amount of sugar you’ve just ingested can be entertainment the whole family can enjoy.
Cooling racks…well, don’t have those, so I pulled the cook top irons and used those.
Fancy ability cut a cake in half evenly? Throw magnets on the knife and turn the cake board you’re full cake is sitting on. Presto MFer.
No cake board? Don’t want to shell out for a doily? Cut up the cardboard from a frozen pizza and cover in foil. Kitchen Gangsta.
Run out of icing half way through your cake? Head to walgreens. They had powdered sugar and a sassy checkout man. win!
Oh those lines? Chopstick. Make sure it’s wet and clean it often or it will get goopy.
Turned out ok. Would have loved to done some better layering, but between running out of icing and time..I think it turned out just fine. And it got some pretty good reviews.
